Meet other members of the Boston DSA Merrimack Valley Neighborhood Group, Saturday, October 24, at Nibbana Cafe in Lowell, 11 am-1 pm, for a friendly, casual social.This is a great chance to interact with fellow democratic socialists, learn more about the chapter's priorities and where we stand, and just chat with your neighbors.We encourage new and prospective members to join us during the first hour, but you are welcome to join at anytime! We'll have DSA lit at our table. Everyone attending is expected to follow Boston DSA's Code of Conduct. We are committed to an environment free of harassment and exclusionary behavior. A member of our designated safety team will be present. If you have any concerns, experience a violation of our conduct standards, or need assistance with de-escalation, please speak with the designated safety person (they will be introduced at the start of the hour).

In the Merrimack Valley we have many renters, high rents, few tenant protections, and hardly any safety net. To make matters worse, tenants often face housing rights violations and unfair evictions without knowing their rights or what resources they have to stay in their homes. We must step up and help protect our community members from eviction. Join the Merrimack Valley Democratic Socialists of America to speak with neighbors about their rights as they face eviction, connect them with legal resources, and offer much needed support. A short training will be provided at the top of the hour, and canvassers will be provided with information flyers and paired to connect with a pre-prepared list of neighbors in need. The Boston Proper planning committee invites you to our third Boston Proper meeting at the Cathedral of St. Paul (138 Tremont St in Downtown Boston). The Boston Proper Committee is an initiative inspired by organizers from across the city. Our goal is to unite Neighborhood Groups to build working class power that can disrupt the current establishment 🔥 🔥 🔥In this meeting we'll talk about what happened in 2026, what we've heard from DSA members who live in Boston, and what we're doing about it in 2027. We'll also have a special guest speaker from the Boston Budget Alliance to introduce their organization and share their work on participatory budgeting in Boston. We'll end the meeting with a social so we can all have a chance to get to know each other and to share how we want to make Boston a better place for everyone. The Boston DSA's elected Coordinating Committee meets every first and third Tuesday of the month from 7:30-9:30 pm. These meetings are open to all Boston DSA members, but not to the general public. Coordinating Committee business is conducted over Zoom, with the link provided upon RSVPing. These meetings are used to deliberate on chapter matters and vote on administrative topics. On specific occasions when the CC is handling sensitive information, it may enter executive session for a portion of the meeting, during which only the CC is present.Members can make requests of the Coordinating Committee through the Airtable linked here. Specific questions can also be sent in the #ask-cc channel on Discord, or emailed to the entire CC via leadership@bostondsa.org.

Join Boston DSA's Housing Working Group for a joint rally for parking reform and social housing with Abundant Housing Massachusetts on Wednesday, October 21st, from 5pm-6pm. Boston's outdated parking mandates make it more expensive to build housing, which drives up the cost of rent and makes it hard to build social housing. Join us for a rally to ask the city council to repeal outdated parking mandates and invest in social housing--housing that is publicly owned, open to people of all incomes, and perpetually affordable.

Question 5 on the November ballot would cap how much revenue Massachusetts can collect and send the rest back as rebates, mostly benefiting the wealthy while cutting into funding for health care, transportation, and public schools. Join Boston DSA to knock doors and talk to your neighbors about voting No on 5. No experience needed. We’ll train you, give you a walk list, and pair you with a team.
