Who We Are

Boston DSA is the Eastern MA chapter of Democratic Socialists of America.

We are working against the oppressive capitalist system in its many forms. We see these oppressions — economic inequality, patriarchy, white supremacy, to name a few — as interlinked, intersecting, and inseparable.

Join us in building mass movements for the world we deserve and growing an openly socialist presence in communities and politics in the Greater Boston Area.

Join a Boston DSA Working Group

Boston DSA’s working groups carry out the external political work of the chapter. Working groups are centered strategies such as labor organizing (supporting striking workers and educators) or socialist electoral politics (challenging the legislative system). Learn about the working groups and find your organizing home within the chapter.

Protesters march through the streets of Boston holding signs that say "A Better World if Possible Democratic Socialists of America" and "Boston DSA Supports a Free Palestine"

Working Group Spotlight: Palestine

Join the Palestine Working Group! We’re fighting Warren and Markey by building a mass base around three critical issues – a permanent ceasefire, ending weapons shipments to Israel, and delivering immediate relief for Gaza. For the first time in history, the American people are on the side of Palestine – help us organize them!

  • Boston DSA December General Organizing Meeting

    December 6, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, 750 Dorchester Avenue, Boston MA, 02125

Elections are over, and now the work of governing begins – and the work of politics beyond the ballot box continues! At Boston DSA’s last General Meeting of 2025 on Saturday, December 6 from noon to 3 pm, we’re looking forward to how we’ll keep building a powerful movement for socialism that can defeat accelerating fascism. Come to the Carpenters Training Center at 750 Dorchester Ave, Boston, where we’ll come together to learn, discuss, decide, and even dream a little about what we can achieve through solidarity with our neighbors in MA and organizers around the world. Just as importantly, we’ll pause, take a deep breath, and chill out for once. Join us for participatory democracy & working class power… but don’t forget to grab a mug of mulled cider or hot chocolate and hang out with good comrades too.

    Book Swap & Cozy Crafternoon

Socialize with socialists at a delightfully indoorsy winter mixer. Bring books & craft supplies to swap, your latest project to show off, a favorite board game to share, those cookies you’ve been looking for an excuse to bake, or just an appetite for hot beverages and something new to read. Wear your best DSA swag and red & rosy attire for our 2025 group photo!

    This month, we’ll also…

    • Decide on whether we’ll create a Socialists in Office Committee. “SiOC” would be responsible for coordinating with BDSA electeds and advocating for the shared goals that led us to endorse them. Read the proposal here, and submit proposed amendments to it here.

    • Learn how YOU can start fighting back against community displacement & shamless slumlords at an eviction defense training from Housing Working Group & Roxbury Neighborhood Group.

    • Find out how the Sheba Out of MA Campaign plans to stop the Governor from giving away MA tax dollars to an AI “accelerator” backed by Israel’s largest healthcare center – while Gazans face “a perfect storm for the spread of disease and illness” without a single fully functional hospital.

    • Elect a new Membership Coordinator via an online vote after the meeting. If you think you’ve got what it takes to coordinate our record-high membership of more than 2,200, self-nominate by Monday, December 1 using this form.

    Deliberation and Voting:

At this GM, we will be both voting on the Electoral Working Group’s proposed Socialists in Office Committee framework, and having a special election for Membership Coordinator. Please read all instructions carefully, as these two elections are conducted differently.

Membership Coordinator Special Election: To run for Membership Coordinator, please self-nominate using the Membership Coordinator Self-Nomination Form by Monday, December 1 at 11:59 pm. Ballots will be sent out after the meeting via OpaVote, and voting will close on Friday, December 12 at 11:59 p.m.

Socialists in Office Committee Proposal: Please read the full text of the proposal here. Debate will open in the gm-debate chat channel in the Discord on Wednesday, December 3. (You can join the Discord here.) Please check your email before the meeting for your OpenSlides login information, and log in to OpenSlides to participate in chapter votes.

Amendments: If you would like to submit an amendment to one of the voting items on the agenda, please fill out this form by Wednesday, December 3 at 11:59 pm.

Proxy voting: If you cannot attend in-person and would like to request a proxy to vote on your behalf, please fill out this form by Wednesday, December 3 at 11:59 pm. There is a limit of a maximum of two proxy votes per live attendee, which includes CC members. Therefore, members are responsible for finding and designating their own proxy and instructing their proxy on how to vote during the upcoming GM to the extent possible. If you are unable to find a proxy, the CC can help you find one.

Joining on Zoom: Our general meetings are hybrid with in-person and remote options. To get the Zoom link sent to you, please RSVP above.

Required Masks: Attendees must wear masks when not eating/drinking or presenting. A variety of free disposable masks will be available at the sign-in table.

Child Watch: While their parents and caregivers attend in the GM, kids are welcome to participate in crafts and activities facilitated by BDSA volunteers at our Child Watch table at the back of the room. If you are planning on bringing your child to the meeting, please fill out the Child Watch RSVP form so that we can ensure your child has the best possible time.

Parking and transit: The Carpenters Center has on-site parking. It is a five-minute walk from the Andrew stop on the Red Line, and the 18 bus has a stop right in front of the building.

Accessibility: If you have any accessibility questions or concerns, please email accessibility@bostondsa.org.
